Welcome

What is the Laos Village Community Fund?

The Laos Village Community Fund is a UK registered charity, established in 2004 by a group of cyclists who travelled with Red Spokes Adventure Tours on a tour through rural Laos. Inspired by their experiences, they decided to do something to help the local people who had shown them such warmth and hospitality.

The Fund provides direct financial assistance for projects that will make a difference to the quality of life of the local community. Our aim is to improve access to basic needs, such as education and fresh water.  In 2009 the charity decided broaden it’s objectives to include projects in other areas of the world where Red Spokes run tours.

Over the years we have

·         Build a brick school in Ban Faen
·         Provided a village community centre in Ban Faen.
·         Built a basic school and supplied a teacher to a rural Hmong school.
·         Provided teaching materials to 3 schools. Ban Faen, Hmong village and our new homestay village Ban Nalay.
Supported Cope (Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise). In providing prosthetic devices to a number of Lao people with a mobility disability.  This includes many people who have been disabled as a result of UXO explosions.

Over the coming year we hope to raise enough money to provide

·         £10,000 for Cope
·         Build a brick school in the Hmong village we do work in
·         Provide a village community hall in Ban Nalay.

We also will look at supporting other smaller projects in Vietnam, Tibet and Peru. This support will come in 3 ways.

1.       Financial support from Red Spokes
2.       Financial support from Red Spokes customers.
3.       Financial support from LVCF
